Montana Quarterly Editor Scott McMillion grew up in Livingston. After graduating from the University of Montana, he knocked around the world for a few years and came home to stay in 1988.

His journalism has won dozens of awards, and his book Mark of the Grizzly became an instant classic when it was published in 1999.

He’s been a featured essayist on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer and a frequent guest on radio and television news programs, and his writing appears in magazines and newspapers around the nation.

Thomas Lee is the author of two books of photography, most recently Montana: Real Place, Real People with Montana Quarterly Senior Editor Al Kesselheim. He has more than 20 years of experience shooting landscapes, portraits, industrial scenes, commercial products and more for a variety of publications and clients. Alan Kesselheim is the author of 11 books, including Montana: Real Place, Real People with Montana Quarterly Senior Photographer Thomas Lee. He is a sought-after lecturer and a journalist with more than 30 years of experience, specializing in conservation, science and backcountry exploration. Senior Editor for Design Craig Lancaster
Craig Lancaster is the author of nine novels and a book of short stories, a body of work that includes 600 Hours of Edward, the High Plains Book Award winner for Best First Book in 2010 and a 2009 Montana Book Award Honor Book. His most recent novel is And It Will Be a Beautiful Life (2021, The Story Plant). At the Quarterly, he’s responsible for the layout and production of the magazine (and is a frequent contributor). Editor Emeritus Megan Regnerus has played a key role in the Montana Quarterly since its launch in 2005, shaping its tone, content and perspective for seven years. While she’s stepped back from the helm, she can’t seem to walk away and still helps out in a million ways. Her writing has appeared in magazines including Runners World, Fit Pregnancy, Brain Child and more.
